Another first!

Dear sweet baby Isla,
You're 27 weeks and 2 days (in the womb) and you got the hiccups for the first time!  It's so funny to see my belly bounce and move to a rhythm!  You're approx. 14 inches long and you weigh around 2 lbs, you can be compared to an eggplant in size.. by next week, you'll be the size of a squash!  In just 10 short weeks, you'll be the size of a watermelon!!  Weighing in anywhere from 6.2-9.2 lbs and measuring from 18.9-21 inches long, wow!!
I am so excited to meet you, I think about you everyday!  Your Daddy and I cannot wait to love on you and give the best life possible.  We're so thankful and blessed to have you, babycakes!!

Nicknames for our babe!

It's so funny how our precious little baby isn't here, yet we have so many nicknames for her!
Of course there is "Binky" because that was our babe's name before we found out that she is a she!!
Then I have found myself calling her "Cupcake" "Isla Bug" "Isla Doodle" & "Baby Cakes"

Aaron and I have always been the mushy couple that call each other pet names and I believe that will carry through with our sweet daughter, the future can only tell what her nicknames will be!

My parents certainly did not expect to nickname me "Wrongway" it was more of a trait or a personality that gave me that silly nickname that still sticks with me, along with "Misty Pistol" from my Grandpa Peterschmidt (who was a police officer) and "Misty Magoo" from my Grandma Riggle and "Mitty Anner" from my Mother and several others!

It's really exciting to think about the future of our little family and what funny stories we'll have and memories we'll make!  I feel so blessed to have Aaron and Isla doodle in my life  :)

Daddy's First Semi-Father's Day!!

Yesterday, June 20th was Aaron's first semi-father's day!!  We didn't go all out because our baby cupcake isn't here to celebrate with us, but I did buy Aaron a "Daddy-to-be" Father's Day Card and an adorable onesie for Isla that says "I love Daddy on it", attached below is the pic of it!  It was cute because I laid it down by Aaron Sunday night on the bed and he said he couldn't wait to play with her little feet when she is laying next to him there!  He's going to be the most amazing Daddy to her, both Isla and I are lucky to have such a great man in our lives!

I also bought my Dad a cute sign for his house that says "Grandkids Always Welcome, Parents by Appointment" and it's a rustic red color, he quickly hung it up by the back door (the main entrance to the house)!!  So, I'm very glad to see that my 2 favorite men loved their gifts!

Drawings from some very cute little Artists!

I just adore how younger kids get so excited about babies, it's so cute!  My best friend's niece Ashlynn drew a picture of me and Isla after Tara (my best friend) told her about how I was having a baby.  Ashlynn is at the adorable age of 3 and she is so full of spunk!
My sweet niece Addison Jo also drew a picture of me with Isla!  This was before I found out if I was having a boy or a girl.  She drew one of me with a boy and one of me with a girl, although she was confident that I was having a girl and she was very right!  Addie is at the fun age of 7 1/2, so she loves writing and drawing!  She is very independent and likes to sound words out, which makes drawings that much cuter!  Notice the "Anut Missty" too cute!

I think these drawings are too good not to be shared!

fresh coat of paint, yeaaaaa!!

Well, we started on our cupcake's room this weekend!!  I didn't get the best lighting and I used my camera phone to get the picture.. but here's the paint job!!  I love this color!  We spent all weekend on this because Aaron had to do some mudding and fixing in the closet because we totally dismantled it (we have a change in mind) and then we had to take down some shelves in the room, spackle and get a good coat of primer all before painting!  Our next step is stripping the old paint off of the trim and re-painting it white!  (the picture on here is NO trim at all) We also did a little of bit of carpet research this weekend, but we have more to do before we make any final decisions!  It feels good to see the room in progress though and I really think Isla will find her room to be peaceful, relaxing and cheerful!

25 week baby dr appt went GREAT

I had my 25 week baby dr appt on Wednesday and it was good!  The usual asking if everything is going well with the pregnancy (which it is!!) and I got to hear my sweet baby's heartbeat again, that never ever gets old!  My next appt on July 8th is a big one though, I do my glucose test which is a bummer but I also get to see my daughter on ultrasound for the final time!  I'm really hoping that she's laying in a position where we can use the 3D graphics to see her sweet chunky cheeks!!  This will be my last monthly check in, after that I go to every 2 weeks for 4 appts and then once a week until she's here!!   Wow, that made it a reality to hear that!!
Our last ultrasound at 20 weeks was wonderful but our daughter is a very stubborn little thing and she refused to roll over for the ultrasound technician.  The tech even bounced the dopler on my tummy to get Isla's attention and hope that she would flip over, but that didn't work!  The tech noticed that Isla lays right up against my aeorta and she likes to be rocked by my heartbeat!  What a sweetie!  Chances are she's definitely going to like being rocked once she enters the world and chances are I will LOVE doing it!!   It kind of worked out for us that she was so stubborn though because they scheduled our next ultrasound for 8 weeks later so that they could finish their measurements on her.  Otherwise, we would not have received another ultrasound.. so it could be that Isla just likes to have her picture taken, she's a diva just like my nieces Addison and Addyson!  :)

Kinda like the Batphone, it's the Isla-Phone!!!

Aaron works the night shift at the hospital, so he sleeps during the day.  He often keeps his phone on silent because so many people still call him during the day while he's trying to sleep.  That makes me worry incase I need to get ahold of him for baby reasons, whether it's over an emergency or possibly the birth of our baby girl.  Aaron came up with a great plan to get a go-phone through AT&T that is only used for Isla reasons and I'll be the only person with the number to the phone.  We call it the 'Isla phone' and we joke around that she's the youngest person to own a cell phone!  Aaron was holding the phone up to my belly last night asking Isla if she liked her new phone.. I thought it was funny :)

Daddy's first kick!

Isla has been kicking up a storm and wiggling around for quite awhile.  However it seems like everytime she's kicking and I want Aaron to come feel, she stops!  She seems to be a stubborn little thing like her Mommy...
Aaron had to work over this last weekend and he's on the night shift, so I was in bed sleeping when got home early Sunday morning around 7:30.  He walked into our bedroom and kissed me hello and started saying a few things to me when "WHAM".. Isla started kicking like a baby ninja in my tummy!  She must have recognized her Daddy's voice.. she kept kicking so I told Aaron where to put his hand and he finally got to feel his sweet baby girl's movement for the first time!  Aaron's on cloud 9 saying she's "Daddy's little Isla."  Seeing the smile on his face and the happiness in his eyes made my morning...  ok, well it actually made my weekend!

HOORAY!

don't you just love this banner??!!

I bought this banner well before becoming pregnant with Isla!  Aaron and I wanted a baby so badly and this was my first splurge purchase, knowing that's exactly how I would feel about Baby Nolan!  I found it on etsy.com, that website is just amazing!  There are so many talented people selling their own unique arts & crafts!
I think I'll have it in the hospital the day that Isla arrives, and then we'll put it up in her nursery somewhere!

Isla meets Sue the Dinosaur!!

Aaron and I went to Chicago over the weekend to see the museums.. in the course of 2 very long days we saw the Willis Tower (Sears Tower), the Science & Industry Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum.. as well as walking parts of Michigan avenue!  As you can guess, my poor feet were aching by the end.. they were as swollen as Fred Flintstone's!!  I know they always look swollen, even pre-pregnancy.. Aaron says my toes can be confused for little smokies.. so imagine them even worse!!  :)

Sue the T-Rex was at the Field Museum, so Isla already was around to witness a dinosaur.. that's big news for a babe that's only 23 weeks and 2 days in the womb!!

Picture frames

So, after my lovely blueberry scone dream... I started thinking about how I should carry on the memories of Lea.. along with Aaron's biological Mom, Peggy Anne & his Dad, David Thomas.

so, I bought one bright yellow perfectly square picture frame to put a picture of Lea in and I bought another silver funky cute textured frame that's a little larger to put a pic of Peggy & David in.  Isla will be lucky enough to meet her other grandparents, so I think that having pictures of the sweet grandparents she'll miss in her room may be nice!  I have a couple of nice white wall shelves that look sorta like this;

I figure I'll put their pictures on there above her waist high dresser maybe?  Not exactly sure of the placement right now.. but I know I'll have their pictures in there!  Eventually she'll know who they are and have a face to put their memories to!
